The polar vortex that brought unusual snowfall that lasted over a week killed many of my tropical trees overwintering in the garage. Really devastating. These were fruiting plants I’ve had for years.

So I might have gone a little overboard and am growing 27 cultivars of peppers this season.

Below is ají habanero, capsicum baccatum.

I will never forget or forgive that awful FFF Germany statement on here (never retracted, as far as I know), denouncing Greta and supporting Israel. I went outside to bring some rain-soaked container plants indoors. Instead of the scent of ozone that one usually smells after a thunderstorm, the air smelled like a campfire that had been doused by fire. Not good.

Photo from my mom in suburban Chicago. While it's lovely that summer has finally arrived there, this is not the air quality you want to see. In her text that included this image she said "it's hazy. Smells like burning." I had to tell her it was smoke from Canada wildfires.

My dad has difficulty breathing, and after sitting indoors all winter, he loves to spend time outside at various forest preserves in their area, but I can't imagine the air quality is good for his lungs .

The air quality is even worse today. I'm glad it wasn't too bad while I was walking home from the dentist. I feel weak and woozy, though. #AirQuality #ClimateDiary #CanadaWildfire

Wondering if there will come a point when people who make meaningful action on decarbonisation a prominent part of their public intellectual persona, commit to *not flying*?

Or at the very least, sufficiently understand that blithely mentioning jetting to Korea and Canada is part of the normalisation of business as usual. And that therefore they should maybe keep quiet about it :/
