With all the hot discussions about #FP64 right now, what do you say to Nvidia almost entirely axing FP64 on #Blackwell Ultra B300?

B200 180GB FP64 performance: 37.2 TFlops/s
B300 288GB FP64 performance: 1.2 TFlops/s ☠️

They're going from the usual datacenter #GPU FP64:FP32 ratio of 1:2 down to cheap 1:64, like on all their gaming/workstation GPUs.
Personally I think this is fantastic - it opens the doors wide for competitors to step into the #HPC market.

Ich habe gerade ein interessantes Techphänomen in Spiderman Remastered festgestellt.

Die Grafikeinstellung "Wetterpartikelqualität" bremst zumindest auf Blackwell Grakas die Renderpipeline massiv aus.

Wenn ich die genannte Einstellung auf "Sehr hoch" stelle, habe ich zum Teil selbst in Zielauflösung WQHD oder Full HD Drops auf unter 60FPS.
Wohlgemerkt: Ich habe eine 5090.

Stelle ich genannte Option auf "niedrig", kann ich sogar in Zielauflösung 5K das Game zocken und meine Karte hat noch Reserven nach oben.
Wenn ihr also mal eine Blackwell Karte nutzen solltet, dreht die genannte Option runter.
Anscheinend verschluckt sich Blackwell daran komplett.
Meiner Erinnerung nach hatte Ada Lovelace das Phänomen nämlich nicht.

The #GPU or graphics processing unit will be part of #Nvidia's latest generation #Blackwell-architecture #AI processors & is expected to be priced between $6,500 & $8,000, well below the $10,000-$12,000 the #H20 sold for, acc/to 2 of the sources.

The lower price reflects its weaker specifications & simpler manufacturing requirements.

It will be based on Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000D, a server-class graphics processor & will use conventional GDDR7 memory instead of more advanced high bandwidth memory.

Oh and just today we learned that #nvidia was also doubling down on its research investment in the #CCP's #PRC.

It's almost as if Nvidia — technically based in the USA for access to stock market funding and valuation — was actually run by Chinese nationalists. 🧐

Taiwanese Nationalists (of the historical KMT *China* nationalist type) are increasingly in cahoots with the PRC communists-turned-ethno-nationalists. And the CCP is also pivoting hard to find unfair-weather allies in the Arab/islamic world.
