Pottery by Osa<p>I got three clay samples in the mail yesterday from my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ClayPal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClayPal</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.online/@archeaids" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>archeaids</span></a></span> and it prompted a round of sig making.</p><p>I dissolved each clay sample in water and sieved through 60 mesh, added a tiny amount of sodium silicate to deflocculate and now to let them sit. Over time, the coarser particles will settle to the bottom and the top layer will be a silky, refined decorating slip. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/clay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>clay</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/terrasigillata" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>terrasigillata</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/wildclay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wildclay</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ceramics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ceramics</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>art</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/alttext" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>alttext</span></a></p>
