sergio_101<p>I just put my station on <a href="https://social.sixdegreesofohio.com/tags/APRS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>APRS</span></a> this morning. It is a base station, so it's on all the time. I am still feeling my way around APRS, and I would totally appreciate it if someone would send me a test message, so that I can see if i am receiving messages.</p><p>Can somoene send a message to KB8QPT-1 ?</p><p>Thanks!</p>

But I find that meshtastic is pretty useless in our area as everyone just puts a node up but doesn't use it. </p><p>That's why I enjoy <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/LoRa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LoRa</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/APRS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>APRS</span></a> It does well and has some use, and it is linked to APRS-IS through i-gates.</p>
Andreas DC6AP (JO43)<p>I've added support for local OSM tiles to APRSMap 😄 More details will be available soon on my blog at <a href="https://www.hamradiotech.de" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">hamradiotech.de</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.aventer.biz/tags/aprs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aprs</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.aventer.biz/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.aventer.biz/tags/amateurradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>amateurradio</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://github.com/andreaspeters/aprsmap" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/andreaspeters/aprsm</span><span class="invisible">ap</span></a></p>
A2 Engineering Services<p>Driving from Inverness to Dunbar today, avoiding the A roads as much as possible and sticking as close as possible to the coast. We may even be lucky enough to get an Arbroath Smokie.<br><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/scotland" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scotland</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/aprs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>aprs</span></a></p>

There is a more mature system, <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/APRS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>APRS</span></a> . Could it be more valuable as an emergency messaging system? You need a permit to use it, but it shouldn't be to difficult to get one. I wonder, perhaps Meshtastic is nice to get your feet wet, before switching to the real thing.</p><p>It's all relatively new to me. Wes AFØAJ<p>There seems to be much I don't know about radio. I find it strange that one of the iGates (WØUPS-15) that most often hears my <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/APRS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>APRS</span></a> packets OTA on VHF sent from my home QTH is located 84 miles (135km) from here, and is not line-of-sight (there's a mountain in the way). Unless I'm not understanding something in the aprs.fi table...</p><p>Bounding off the front range foothills maybe? &lt;shrugs&gt;</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a></p>

That's new to me.</p><p>I'm DMR looks neat, but I'm still low-key annoyed that it uses a proprietary audio codec/vocoder.<br>That kind of goes against the point of what ham radio is all about.</p>

Where are my #macos #HamRadio #APRS #direwolf #digirig folks at?

So, my digirig works fine on macos if I just hamlib it. Like, I can rigctl, toggle the ptt, everything works just fine.

But, for whatever reason, direwolf _refuses_ to work.

I see it, like, flash the ptt once the first time I try to Tx, but nothing comes out, and then the ptt doesn't even trigger with subsequent attempted transmissions. The direwolf console registers that it Tx'd packets, and there are no error messages.

I've even tried running the digirig as a rigctld server locally. Same deal; other programs can trigger ptt for an arbitrary amount of time, but direwolf configured to use it still just flashes the first packet.

I don't have this issue on Linux, and I don't _think_ I have this problem when I use vox on a baofeng (I need to try again to verify).

Are there any websites that provide text search of decoded #APRS packets? On aprs.fi it seems like you can only search by "originating station".

Ach guck an. db0end konnte ich einmal kurz auftasten und rufen. 2-3mm bewegt und das Relais war unerreichbar. Aber ein einziges #APRS Paket hat die Hytera dann doch noch absetzen können. RSSI -105. Ist da also sogar mit S7 angekommen. Nice.

Gut, im Notfall könnte dieses eine Paket halt ein leben retten. Schließlich war ich ja im Wald. Und im Wald da sind die Räuber,
halli hallo die Räuber……
