Today is the release of iOS 17 and I’ll be sharing app update posts!
Developers – please share what your app does, what’s new, and a link to the App Store!
@matthewcassinelli I made an app called „Channel Keeper“.
The app lets you add your favorite YouTube channels and organize them in collections. So this makes it comfortable to keep track of them and browse them in a way the normal YouTube app does not.
iOS 17 features are StandBy Widgets, iPadOS Lockscreen widgets and Sonoma Desktop widgets (of course iOS/iPadOS widgets as well). Also shortcuts support and iCloud sync is available.
@csigritz holy heck this looks awesome
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli this is a great idea and the app looks amazing! Testing it right now.
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli This looks awesome! I’ve been wanting a way to organize the YouTubers I follow. Thank you!
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli This app is AWESOME!
The only thing that would make it perfect is if it could talk to Youtube API and auto import all my dozens of channels. YT prob. Does not let you do that though.
will buy.
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli Seeing the grid per channel is a great way to make sure you did not miss one.
@cakemix @csigritz Someone who's a better programmer than me might be able to use the Run Javascript on Webpage action in #Shortcuts to scrape all your YouTube subscriptions and export them as a list from this URL: https://www.youtube.com/feed/channels
@matthewcassinelli @cakemix Well. Only works on the Mac. Login to YouTube in Safari before using the Shortcut. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/fa602bba00ff461e99e5176715abeabd
@matthewcassinelli @cakemix Yep. Did not even know that „Run JS on Safari Webpage" exists until today. :)
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli It will only grab the channels that appear in the safari viewport. Scrolling down to bottom to “z” to see if it will grab them all now.
@cakemix @matthewcassinelli hmm. Maybe just remove the open URL action from the shortcut and no reload should happen.
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli That worked.
Now, I need to copy and paste each of the 968 channels into the app. LOL!
@cakemix @matthewcassinelli 968??? Wow. That‘s a lot.
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli So many of them are dead now though. Never realized how many till I started to scroll down and start to remember old but now inactive channels.
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli I subscribe to YouTube Premium so unsure if this is on regular YouTube accounts but it seems I can export my data:
Waiting on email link to see what data I get.
@cakemix @csigritz This is a good idea too, someone else did that for Google Maps data: https://matthewcassinelli.com/how-to-transfer-data-from-google-maps-to-apple-maps/
@matthewcassinelli @csigritz This will work once the app imports a CVS:
Channel ID, URL and name, in a clean CVS that I opened in Apple Numbers.
Maybe a new version that imports CVS files for Channel Keeper?
@cakemix @csigritz You can also isolate .CSV values by using the Split Text action by New Lines and then Repeat with Each, then Split Text by Custom using a comma.
In general I might have to use this export for my own YouTube #shortcuts, thanks for the reminder – great thread.
@cakemix @matthewcassinelli I‘ll put in on the list. :)
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli Unfortunately it reloads the safari page removing my scrolling so it still only captures up to “C” in my case.
@csigritz @matthewcassinelli Last thing. Please add a Yearly price option. I would rather just pay upfront for the entire year.
