My #ESPHome setup for the #mmWave presence sensor is ready! Next: design a case for #3DPrinting & soldering.
As config took some digging, here’s my setup: https://git.hierl.dev/benny/ESP32-mmWave-Sensor
@benny just fyi, the link won't work.
@ikkeT sorry, Geo Blocking was active for my Git Server. Should work now. Thanks for the hint.
@benny thanks. How has it worked compared to traditional ir motion sensors?
@ikkeT There are different mmWave sensors out there. I‘m using one which is good for micro movements, so that I can also detect sleeping persons. I have another one which is good for zone detection (https://shop.everythingsmart.io/products/everything-presence-lite).
Compared to the „classic“ PIR sensor, mmWave sensors are more sensitive and are able to measure distances and movements.
Let’s see how it performs in the end. However, the initial tests where I didn’t move in front of the sensor for a few minutes showed promising results.
